So much to talked about, so many good things happened today!!!
Miles and I were up late last night reading through all the packets they gave us in our bags. We were determined to get into a number of screenings, so we laid out all the screening times and locations and began to pick from then.
In the middle of it all, I ran across information on how we could use our badges to reserve tickets online. So we signed on and tried to sign up, but were put down by the sign u time only be between 8 am and 10 pm.
We napped and when 8 am came around, I signed on a tried to reserve tickets. Though, the site began to act funny, and I couldn’t be sure it worked. We needed to get to the ticket office fast to ensure we got what we needed.
I woke Miles up and we were out the door, to the train station. We decided to take a new route, and as a result found a faster ways then what Google maps had supplied before we left from home. We climbed a bridge over the highway, and cut an easy 10 minutes out of walking to the train.
On the train we both kind of dozed off, but then sprung back to life when we arrived again in Cannes. We walked through the Carnival and right up to the front entrance. They checked our badges and we continued onward. We went straight to the ticket office and presented our information. After correctly identifying us, the lady behind the counter gave us each a RED CARPET TICKET to Woody Allan’s new movie You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger.
We the briefly visited the Short Film Corner, were we posted a tiny poster of NOWSU along with the others. We were thinking about trying to get a screening time and room, but figured we needed to learn more about this red carpet screening.
We turned to the American Pavilion, and decided to become guests for the day. We paid the fee, and walked in. Right off the bat we found people interested in our film, and even asked when it was going to be showing. We sat down for a coke, and planned the rest of our day, which had now changed due to the screening that night.
We tried to get into another movie, though were one of the last people and were not selected. We decided that our attention should be on that night, and walked back to the train station. We had lunch in a tiny café, and got on the next train.
On the back of the ticket we were warned not to bring any sort of video or photo camera because the event had specific rights. I was pissed about this!!! And as a result had to take this picture before.
Back in the hotel we changed into our tuxes, and were out the door with in 30 minutes of walking in. Once we arrived back in Cannes, we still had a few minutes to kill, so we went back to the American Pavilion, and talked with more people.
At 3:50 pm, we walked over to our area, and stood behind 25 other people. The clouds over heavy and it started to drizzle. We couldn’t move because of the people sandwiching us in the middle. The rain got harder, and we stood there in our tuxes just taking it.
Finally they let us in and we took our first steps on the red carpet. Miles and I soaked it in as the others ran around us, down the carpet and up the steps. We enjoyed the stretch and then as we reached the stairs were infuriated by the number of people taking pictures, especially since it said not to, and when I left my back at the hotel.
We walked the steps and into the building. We had balcony seats, so made our way up another flight or two. Once in the auditorium, it was awesome. The largest movie theater EVER!!! Picture and IMAX screening theater, but twice the size!!! I realized I had my phone, and took a snap shot of Miles and I in the theater. The movie began at five sharp, and needless to say was all right.
After the screening we took these with my phone.
We are trying to login in, to get more screening red carpet tickets tomorrow!!!

05/14/10 Bonjour !!!
Hey guys, we woke up this morning at 6:00 am our time, about 11-12ish (midnight) there, and made our way to the train station. After about 30 minutes on the train we made it to Cannes, and then walked through the town towards the festival. We got there very early, and it seemed to be a ghost town. We are planning to leave a little later tomorrow.
There was a giant carnival surrounding the festival, though we were too focused on getting into the festival to look around, well see if we can’t do more of that tomorrow. All the street barriers from the premier of Robin Hood were still up. We made our way to the accreditation office, and received our badges, as well as, our Cannes bags. The Cannes bag was filled with programs as to what was screening and whether or not we needed an invitation to get into it.

We walked further into the building and asked about where the Short Film Corner was, and were told that it didn’t open until 9. With 30 minutes to kill we sought out the American Pavilion. We managed to find it, though were unsure if we could go in. We decided to sit down for a minute, while Miles got a snack.
He ordered two hotdog, cheese, and ham sandwiches, unsure of how big they were. Much to his surprise both were massive, and he could only eat half of one. Once done, we held our heads high and walked right pasted the security, apparently walking with purpose goes a long way. We walked over to the front of the American Pavilion were we met 2 other American film students, and Walter Harris.

We introduced ourselves to him, and talked briefly about our lack of where to go. He assured us that if we were apart of the American Pavilion that wouldn’t be a problem. He told us there was a fee for a day, and for the remainder of the festival. Miles and I believe that we will take part in it tomorrow, as there are many lectures and benefits that can come from it.
At 9 we made our way to the Short Film Corner. Though still empty, we found something worth doing. We sat and watched some of the other films that made it in, and were impressed at how good some were, and also distraught at others. We must have watched about 30 short films before taking off to explore more of the corner.
There was a section for screenings, where Miles and I are going to try and book one for a drink bar, and a lecture room. While we walked past there was a lecture in session, the contents seemed uninteresting, and a majority of it was in French.
We made our way through the March du Cinema section, which encompassed a large amount of small cubical like booths, filled with movie posters, flat screen TV’s playing previews, and very nice chairs. A few of the posters caught our eyes, some of them were extremely humorous, and other actually looked very interesting. We then got lost in this section, and for about 20 minutes couldn’t find our way out. Finally, after about ten more minutes of random movie posters featuring Japanese Armageddon, Zombie-Alien-Neo Nazi’s, and what would seem to be Greek Power Rangers, we found the door outside and made our exit.
We took a moment to try and plan what to do next. We sat out in the courtyard where, much like in Hollywood, there were sidewalk tiles with famous names and handprints on them. We noticed that Olivier Stone’s film Wall Street was going to be screening in a few hours, and in order to see it we needed invitations.

Up set by this, we continued hard trying to find and interesting screening we could get into. On the television, live from the back lot of the festival we saw that the Wall Street cast was lining up to get to their screening. In attendance was Oliver Stone, Michael Douglas, Shiloh La Boef and company. Though we tried to crash their photo session, our admittance was not allowed.
We managed to find a screening in one of the Grand Auditoriums, and ran to the line to get in. After waiting for about 10 minutes they let us in, and we ran into the theater. It was packed!! We made about three circulations around the whole theater, but here were no seats left, aside from the ones that had reserved on them. With only 5 minutes left, we made the choice to walk out, because sitting on the floor was acceptable.
After leaving, we made our way back to Nice for the night, where we both dropped and napped for about 4 hours. We then went out to dinner and had French style pizza.
Miles and I are now planning out tomorrow, in hopes that everything will go more smoothly, and we will be able to enjoy a little bit more then today. We are now relaxing, and still recovering from a mad dose of jet lag.
Please excuse the lack of photos today; I was over whelmed by everything that was going on. More stories to come, talk with you later.

05/13/10 We have arrived!!!

Well guys, we made it to Nice, France around 12:30 pm our time and 6 am your time. We had a few problems with finding how to get from the airport to our hotel, but within an hour managed to swiftly pass through the language barrier and find some answers.
We got to the hotel and that’s when things really began to become a problem. Our room was being cleaned and we ended up having to wait like 45 minutes. Once we were finally in our rooms, Miles and I set forth in trying to communicate with the outside world. I say this because when we landed in Paris this morning neither one of our phones had service.
Two long distance calls later our parents knew we were fine, and we set our efforts on trying to get the Internet working. That was another challenges in it self. When we arrived there was a very large thunderstorm that pasted overhead, and Miles and I decided that with everything that happened today, we would hold off on the festival until tomorrow.
For the rest of the evening we explored our local surroundings, and managed to make a trip to the beach. We walked about 2 miles on a bike path. There were so many restaurants!! Literally, like three to four piled on one another.

After turning around, Miles needed to get some euro, so we made a quick stop to a Cap 3000, just a very large grocery store. He used an atm and then we went off to find food.
We ended up eating at Dylano’s, a very high end café, located right there on the beach. We both had fillet faux grille dans frites, and both got drinks. Miles ended up drinking a Banano, melon ice cream with some sort of melon juice, and I had an Atlanta, Coca Cola with some sort of fruit syrup.

Much to our surprise, our bill ended up being much less then we anticipated, and after relaxing for a few moments we came back to the hotel room.
When we wake up tomorrow, we will be out the door and to the train, so we can acquire our badges without any other moments lost.
Please excuse the lack of events for today.
